Mother of Pearl Focal Pendants, Illusion Style Pearl Necklace

This stunning freshwater pearl necklace incorporates a variety of white pearls strung on clear mono-filament thread similar to Illusion Cord. Stick pearls are great for adding "texture" to a jewelry design! These ususual naturally colored pearls are a "X" or cross shape, then are drilled diagonally. Crystals add some sparkle and potato pearls and gemstone beads provide a beautiful and comfortable base for the piece.

Pearl Necklace using Memory Wire

Designer's note: Pearls have holes that are usually too small for Memory Wire. These pearls had their holes enlarged using a bead reamer tool (and lots of "coaxing"). Another tool that might be useful is the Pearl Reamer tool.

- India Silver beads. Note that the larger silver beads on each side of the picture were used to gather the three strand portion of the necklace and hide the crimps. A single strand is used on the back of the necklace (for comfort, and ease of attaching to a single strand clasp).

Freshwater pearls are a "natural" with faceted gemstone. In this design, copper colored rice pearls and faceted Peach Aventurine rectangle beads are paired.

Multi-strand Pearl Necklace - Knotting Technique

This necklace demonstrates the use of knotting in a contempory design style. The exposed sections of thread add color to the design - a style that is sometimes called "tin cup" (refer to knotting detail picture on the right).

- India Silver beads - this design used Tiny Daisy Spacers.
- Sterling Silver Corrugated Saucers, oxidized finish
- Sterling Silver Findings: Sterling Silver Clamshell bead tips (hook style).
- SS 12mm Lobster Clasp
- 'Long & Short' Chain - a 3" piece is used as a necklace extender.
- Polyamid Thread - Blue, #4, one card is sufficient for all three strands of this necklace.
Designer's note: A pearl reamer (fine tip size) was used to smooth and enlarge the holes in some of the white nugget pearls that would not easily fit on the #4 thread.
